Gov’t to Initiate 400-Housing Unit Project in Hulhumale’
The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has engaged in discussions with the Ministry of Finance concerning the appointment of a project management consultant for a government-led initiative aimed at constructing 400 housing units in Hulhumale’.
This initiative receives backing from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), with the Ministry of Finance having formalised a finance agreement with the SFD.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has articulated an ambitious objective for every citizen in the nation to have their own household within the coming five years. In pursuit of this vision, the government has initiated an extensive plan to deliver over 65,000 housing units within the same period.
Among the pivotal projects within this initiative is the Rasmale’ development in the Greater Male’ Region, which encompasses the reclamation of 1,153 hectares of land. Operations for this significant undertaking commenced in December of the preceding year.
Muizzu has outlined intentions to designate 11,000 plots of land and more than 26,000 flats from the reclaimed land.
