Police Service Concludes School Traffic Monitor Programme in Dh. Atoll
The Maldives Police Service concluded its School Traffic Monitor Programme at Dh. Atoll Education Centre with a closing ceremony on 3rd July.
The event was honoured by the presence of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Abdul Rahman, who heads the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement.
In his address, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahman highlighted the significance of the knowledge and skills the students had acquired throughout the programme. He encouraged them to share their learnings with their peers and to act as role models within the school community. Emphasising the practical application of these new skills, he urged students to consistently set a positive example. He also called on parents to respect traffic rules and regulations, and to support their children in their roles as traffic monitors by adhering to their instructions.
The programme, which ran from 29th June to 3rd July 2024, aimed to promote road safety awareness and prevention. It was organised in collaboration with Kudahuvadhoo Police Station. Participants received comprehensive training on the Road Traffic Act and regulations, with a particular focus on student safety and security. They were also instructed in maintaining good manners while interacting with the public, both on the streets and within school premises.
A total of 34 students from Dh. Atoll Education Centre participated in the five-day programme. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance road safety and community responsibility among young students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a safer environment for all.
