Maldives and Türkiye Strengthen Higher Education Collaboration

The Maldives and Türkiye have initiated discussions to expand higher education opportunities for Maldivian students.

These discussions took place between Dr. Maryam Marya, Minister of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development for the Maldives, and Dr. Murat Yülek, Rector of OSTİM Technical University in Türkiye.

During her official visit to Türkiye, Minister Dr. Marya also met with representatives from several other renowned universities. A significant outcome of her meeting with Dr. Yülek was the signing of an agreement focused on providing assistance in the higher education sector. The minister and the rector also toured the university’s laboratories and discussed ongoing projects at the institution. OSTİM Technical University is known for offering a range of courses in technical and innovative fields.

In addition to her meetings with educational institutions, Minister Dr. Marya held extensive discussions with Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. These talks centred on expanding scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students in Türkiye.

Minister Dr. Marya’s official visit to Türkiye, undertaken at the invitation of the Turkish government, is set to conclude today. She is accompanied by Deputy Minister Aminath Shashee and Permanent Secretary Aminath Hikma.
