15-Year-Old Eshal Wins Silver at Asian Pistol and Rifle Cup

Fifteen-year-old Maldivian athlete wins silver in the junior women’s category at the Asian Pistol Rifle Cup. 

The Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation said Mariyam Eshal Misbah, who won the historic silver for the Maldives, missed out on gold in the air pistol event (junior category) at the Asian Rifle and Pistol Cup by a small margin, with a score of229.2 Her counterpart from Chinese Taipei won gold with a score of 231.2

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu congratulated the athlete yesterday. In a post on X, he highlighted her win over athletes from 21 other competing nations. Twenty-three countries participated in this event.

“I congratulate Mariyam Eshal Misbah for winning silver for the Maldives for the first time in the history of shooting sports at the Asian level!” Muizzu wrote in Dhivehi on X.

The Asian Rifle and Pistol Cup, currently taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, runs until February 22.
