A total of 16 specialist and sub-specialist doctors have joined Dharumavantha Hospital and Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) so far this year after completing their specialist training, according to the Male’ City Group of Hospitals (MCGH).

MCGH Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem said the newly recruited doctors include specialists in several fields that were previously unavailable at the hospitals. These include neurointerventional radiology, paediatric dentistry, neonatology and clinical haematology.

The hospitals have also strengthened services with the addition of specialists in orthopaedics, internal medicine, radiology and ear, nose and throat (ENT) care.

Haleem said cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, interventional radiology and other modern services aimed at expanding cardiac and neurological care are scheduled to begin this year.

He said the expansion of specialist services marks an important step towards reducing the need for patients to seek treatment overseas.

Haleem also acknowledged the contributions of doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, support staff and administrative employees across the hospitals, encouraging them to continue delivering quality healthcare with care, compassion and professionalism.
