51-Year-Old Woman Dies Following Gas Leak Incident in Malé 

A 51-year-old Maldivian woman has died following a suspected gas leak incident at a house in Malé this morning, while a 19-year-old woman affected in the incident remains under medical care.

Police said they received a report at around 10:34am regarding two individuals found in critical condition at a house in Dilkusha Goalhi, Maafannu. The incident reportedly occurred at a residence near the Scoop cafe’.

The deceased was identified as Zahida Thaufeeq, 51, of Registry No. RS 6210, Malé. Police said she had already died when she was brought to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The second individual, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to ADK Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.

Relevant authorities are investigating the incident and working to determine the cause.
