The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has been granted full access to the Gedhoruvein portal by the government to scrutinise the list of 4,000 flat recipients previously announced by the administration.
The ACC revealed that the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has provided access to the Gedhoruvein Portal specifically for investigating the complaints filed regarding the allocation of the 4,000 flats under the former government’s housing scheme.
The ACC affirmed its commitment to transparency by stating that it would keep the media informed as the investigation progresses.
As part of its actions, the ACC has formally requested the Housing Ministry to halt the allocation of flats to the initial 4,000 beneficiaries. Additionally, the commission has issued an order to suspend any further allotments until a thorough investigation is conducted.
ACC members appeared before the Petitions Committee of the Parliament last week, outlining that the investigation faced delays due to limited access to the portal designed for government housing project applications.
According to the ACC, substantial issues have been identified in the flat allocation list. Notable concerns include individuals residing and working in islands qualifying for flats and those without children being awarded points in the allocation process.
