Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu has revealed that the government has commenced work on the development of an additional school in Hulhumalé Phase II.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of Shaheed Ali School in Hulhumalé Phase II, where the minister highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts over the past two years to strengthen the education sector. He noted that schools across the country are included in the government’s development plan, ensuring that both schools in the capital and in the outer islands receive attention.
Dr Shafeeu emphasised the importance of self-learning, stating that students should be guided to study independently. He noted that instilling responsible learning habits at a young age encourages students to become responsible both in their professional lives and personal conduct.
The newly inaugurated Shaheed Ali School currently educates more than 2,100 students, with 77 percent of them coming from other atolls. The development of an additional school in Phase II is intended to further support the growing student population in the area.
