Addu City Opens Draft Development Plan for Public Consultation

Addu City Council has opened its draft Development Plan for public consultation, seeking feedback on the city’s future vision, 12 development goals and 11 priority actions.
The council said the consultation will run for the next two weeks and is open to residents, businesses, NGOs, state-owned enterprises, government ministries, law enforcement agencies and independent institutions.

The draft plan was developed based on statistical data and a survey covering one in every five households across Addu City to identify residents’ key needs.

The council also held planning workshops and consultations with the Women’s Development Committee, Fenaka, MTCC, WAMCO, RDC, Addu Equatorial Hospital, Gan International Airport, local universities and colleges, businesses, environmental groups and young people.
The plan focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is aligned with national government policies and development plans, according to the council.
The council also reviewed previous development plans to assess progress and identify challenges encountered during implementation.
It is calling on stakeholders to submit feedback and proposed amendments through the consultation process before the final plan is adopted.
