The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has been expanded to include agriculture and renamed the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources as part of the government’s latest reshuffle.

In a ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu appointed Ahmed Shiyam to lead the ministry and presented him with the letter of appointment.

Shiyam previously served as Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources but was not included in yesterday’s Cabinet reshuffle, in which he retained the portfolio. However, with today’s ceremony, he has been reappointed with an expanded portfolio that now also includes agriculture.

The oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Justice Honourable Abdulla Hameed. Following the oath, the minister signed the declaration of office.
