Each selected fellow will receive USD 60,000 to support ongoing research initiatives or to spearhead new programmes and projects.

Eligible expenses may cover various activities, including bolstering existing research, facilitating laboratory studies through travel, procuring necessary equipment, and covering additional research-related costs such as publication fees and field assistants.

In addition to financial support, fellows will gain access to a range of learning opportunities, including integration into a network of blue carbon professionals, prospects for collaborative research endeavours, training sessions aimed at enhancing skills like science communication, access to professional networks, and participation in scientific forums.

The fellowship programme actively encourages multidisciplinary projects, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds encompassing scientific research, social sciences, community engagement, communications, policy and law, and conservation finance.

For the year 2024, the IBCI Fellowship Programme intends to select one fellow for a comprehensive two-year programme.

The application window is open until June 15, 2024, with selected fellows announced in July 2024.
