Applications Open for Chevening Scholarships 2027

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development has opened applications for the 2027 Chevening Scholarship programme, offering fully funded opportunities for Maldivians to pursue one-year master’s degrees in the United Kingdom.

Applicants must submit their applications and all required documents online through the Chevening website by 11:00 UTC on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

The ministry said the candidate selection process will be conducted directly by the scholarship provider. Further information and application instructions are available through the Chevening website and the ministry’s Kuri portal.

Chevening Scholarships support emerging leaders from around the world to undertake postgraduate study in the UK, with the programme covering the costs of study and allowing recipients to focus on their academic and professional development.

The ministry advised selected candidates to verify before travelling that their chosen institution and programme are accredited by the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA).

Candidates selected for programmes in fields requiring professional licences in the Maldives must also ensure that their chosen institution and qualification are recognised by the relevant authority. These include the Maldives Allied Health Council, Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council, Maldives Medical and Dental Council and Civil Aviation Authority.
