Authorities to Conduct Full-Scale Emergency Exercise in Thilafushi Today

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will conduct its annual full-scale emergency exercise at its site in Kaafu Atoll, Thilafushi, today, urging members of the public not to be alarmed by the planned use of smoke and fire during the drill.

The exercise will take place from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm as part of MTCC’s efforts to strengthen safety standards and emergency preparedness.

MTCC said the exercise is being conducted in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Health Protection Agency (HPA), with the participation of relevant stakeholders and emergency response agencies to improve coordination and operational readiness.

The company said the drill will involve the controlled use of smoke and fire to simulate an emergency scenario.

MTCC advised residents and people in the surrounding area to follow the instructions of the relevant authorities throughout the exercise and reassured the public that the activity is planned and controlled.

The company also apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused and said further information is available through its hotline, 1650.
