Avas Enterprises to Enable Online Zakat al-Fitr Payments Under Agreement With Zakat House

Maldives Zakat House (MZH) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Avas Enterprises Pvt Ltd to facilitate the online collection of Zakat al-Fitr through the company’s digital platforms.

MZH said the agreement was signed yesterday at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs by Abdullah Ali, Fund Manager of Maldives Zakat House, and Mohamed Yaniu Rameez, Managing Director of Avas Enterprises. Under the arrangement, members of the public will be able to pay Zakat al-Fitr online via Avas Enterprises’ platforms starting from this year’s Ramadan.

According to MZH, contributors will not be charged any service fees when making Zakat al-Fitr payments through the platforms. Avas Enterprises will also waive any charges for transferring the collected funds to Maldives Zakat House, ensuring the full amount reaches its intended beneficiaries.

MZH said the partnership supports its efforts to digitalise zakat services and improve accessibility and convenience for the public. By using established digital platforms, the institution aims to offer a more efficient, transparent and user-friendly payment process.

The Zakat House added that the collaboration forms part of its broader strategy to modernise zakat collection and distribution while upholding Shariah principles and public trust, and that it will continue to explore similar initiatives to enhance the delivery of zakat services nationwide.
