Bangladesh Foreign Minister Arrives in Maldives for Independence Day Celebrations

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman was received upon arrival by Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman arrived in the Maldives today for a three-day visit as a special guest of the Maldivian government to attend celebrations marking the country’s 61st Independence Day.

Dr Khalilur Rahman was received upon arrival by Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Bangladeshi minister is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and hold talks with Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam during his visit, which runs from today until Monday.

Discussions between the two foreign ministers are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations, reviewing cooperation across various areas and exploring opportunities for expanded collaboration, according to the Foreign Ministry. 

The ministers will also exchange views on regional and international developments and reaffirm their commitment to continued cooperation through regional and multilateral platforms.

This is Dr Khalilur Rahman’s first official visit to the Maldives since he assumed office as Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister on 17 February. 

Additionally, His Royal Highness Prince Dr Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Minister of State and Cabinet Member of Saudi Arabia also arrived in the Maldives today to attend celebrations marking the 61st Anniversary of the Independence of the Maldives as the Guest of Honor.
