Bangladesh High Commission Marks Victory Day with Friendly Cricket Match in Malé

The Bangladesh High Commission in the Maldives organised a friendly cricket match yesterday as part of its Victory Day commemorations, bringing together the Bangladesh Expatriate Cricket Team and the Maldives Board XI.
The event was attended by Sports, Fitness and Recreation Commissioner Mohamed Tholal, who served as the chief guest, while Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Dr Md Nazmul Islam, was the special guest. The match began with the national anthems of Bangladesh and the Maldives.
Following the match, High Commissioner Dr Nazmul Islam presented medals and the runner-up trophy to the Bangladesh Expatriate Cricket Team. Commissioner Mohamed Tholal later awarded medals and the champions’ trophy to the winning Maldives Board XI.
The match drew members of Bangladeshi community organisations and Maldivian cricket fans, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. The High Commission also provided refreshments and distributed Bangladeshi and Maldivian flags to spectators.
In addition to the match, the High Commission set up a booth at the venue to register overseas Bangladeshi voters under the postal voting system.
The programme concluded with closing remarks from High Commissioner Dr Nazmul Islam, marking the end of the Victory Day celebrations.
