BCC Introduces Dedicated Category for Religious Products at the National Innovation & Enterprise Expo 2026
The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has announced the introduction of a specialized sector for religious products at this year’s National Innovation & Enterprise Expo.
Speaking on PSM News’ Raajje Miadhu program, Arisa Moosa, Assistant Director of Strategic Development at BCC, noted that while religious items were allowed under general categories during the previous expo, the strong public response prompted the creation of a standalone category this year, complete with its own sub-categories. In last year’s expo, religious items were grouped under general categories.
According to Arisa, the religious products category includes three distinct sub-categories. The first sub-category consists of audio-visual content created for religious awareness. The second sub-category covers various products designed to teach religion to children. The third includes other products that disseminate religious information outside of the first two.
Arisa highlighted that last year’s expo provided a platform to view diverse creations in handicrafts, as well as strong participation in creative arts and design—including drawings and animations—alongside various IT innovations.
She noted that these entries demonstrated clear potential for further advancing Maldivian talent and craftsmanship. She added that, similar to these fields, unique entries are also anticipated under the Creative Economy sector this year.
This year’s expo is scheduled to take place from October 23 to October 31. Urging participants not to wait until the last minute, BCC has advised creators to register as early as possible via the expo.mv portal.
BCC has now opened opportunities for local creators to showcase products and services across 73 sub-categories spanning 16 main sectors at the Dhivehinge Ufeadhuntherikamauge Ma’arazu 2026 (Maldivian Innovation & Enterprise Expo 2026). The deadline to submit applications for participation is 31 August.
