Cancer Society Conducts Free Cancer Screenings

The Cancer Society of Maldives concluded a cancer awareness trip in Noonu Atoll from November 8 to 11, 2023. The initiative aimed to raise awareness and facilitate screenings for various types of cancer, including breast, oral, cervical, colorectal, and prostate cancers.
The screenings were done in partnership with the Bank of Maldives.
Throughout the program, 737 individuals underwent cancer screenings across locations within Noonu Atoll. The screenings were performed in Kendhikulhudhoo, Maalhendhoo, Landhoo, Kudafaaree, Lhohi, and Maafaru.
Breaking down the screenings by cancer type and location, the figures are as follows:
Breast Cancer:
- Kendhikulhudhoo: 166
- Maafaru: 33
Oral Cancer:
- Kendhikulhudhoo: 226
- Maafaru: 54
Cervical Cancer:
- Kendhikulhudhoo: 99
- Maafaru: 24
Colorectal Cancer:
- Kendhikulhudhoo: 56
- Maafaru: 10
Prostate Cancer:
- Kendhikulhudhoo: 31
- Maafaru: 0
In conjunction with the screenings, the Cancer Society also conducted awareness sessions on six islands, reaching 166 students (71 males and 95 females) and 219 adults (33 males and 186 females).
