Cases of Violence Against Children Increases for May

Statistics released by the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services reveal that the Ministry received and attended to a total of 132 cases of violence against children in the month of May, which included 80 girls and 52 boys.

This is an increase compared to the month of April, which saw a total of 99 cases, which included 53 girls and 46 boys.
Last month, the most commonly reported form of child abuse was sexual abuse, with 31 cases documented during the month. This is an anomaly, as most months, negligence is the most reported forms of child abuse.
Additionally, there were 22 cases of emotional abuse, 22 cases of physical abuse, 17 cases of negligence, 15 cases of witness to domestic violence, 9 cases of victim to bullying and harassment, four cases of victim to cyberbullying, three cases of exploitation of children by extremist groups, two cases of cyber grooming of children, one case of exploitation, and one case of blackmail.
Last month, the Gender Ministry attended to a total of 306 cases which involved violence against children, family issues, domestic violence… etc.
