Chinese Tourist Arrivals Approach 90,000 Mark in Maldives

According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism, Chinese tourist arrivals to the Maldives are nearing the 90,000 mark. As of May 8th, 2024, total tourist arrivals to the Maldives have soared to an impressive 809,817.
The latest statistics from the Ministry highlight the dominance of the Chinese market, which continues to hold the top position.
Following closely behind China is Russia, securing its place as the second-largest market for Maldivian tourism. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom claims the third spot.
The top 10 markets for tourist arrivals to the Maldives are as follows:
1. China – 87,566
2. Russia – 80,698
3. UK – 77,273
4. Italy – 71,693
5. Germany – 62,365
6. India – 44,203
7. USA – 27,988
8. Switzerland – 20,265
9. Poland – 16,603
This surge in tourist arrivals represents an 11.8% increase compared to the same period last year when arrivals stood at 724,631. The Maldives continues to attract visitors from around the globe, reaffirming its status as a premier destination for luxury travel and tropical getaways.
