Deadline Extended for By-Election Observer Applications

The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has announced an extension to the deadline for the submission of applications from individuals interested in observing and monitoring the upcoming local council and WDC by-elections scheduled for January 13.

Originally set for December 24, the deadline has now been moved to December 28 at 1500hrs in response to requests from observers, monitors, and candidate representatives. The extension aims to facilitate broader participation in the electoral process.

Application forms can be accessed on the ECM website, and individuals keen on participating can also submit their applications via the designated email address.

ECM is seeking 350 officials for the Male’ City Council by-election.

The upcoming by-elections include the Male’ City mayoral and local council elections, in addition to the Rakeedhoo Island Council by-election. Moreover, WDC by-elections are slated for Neykurendhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Fehendhoo, and Dharavandhoo in Baa Atoll, Gaafaru in Kaafu Atoll, Mandhoo in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, Manadhoo, and Maalhendhoo in Noonu Atoll, Makunudhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Fulhadhoo in Baa Atoll, Kandidheemu in Shaviyani Atoll, Mulah in Meemu Atoll, and Maduvvari in Raa Atoll.
