Deadline Extended for ‘Civic Education Training for Northern Atolls’

The deadline for applications has been extended for the highly anticipated ‘Civic Education Training for Northern Atolls.’

This program offers a unique opportunity for young individuals aged 17 to 25 to delve deep into the realm of civics and broaden their understanding of democratic processes. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply before 12:00 PM on July 01, 2023.

The training program, scheduled to take place from 17th to 22nd July 2023, aims to enhance civic education among young people in the Maldives. It is specifically designed for residents of the H.A., H.Dh., Sh., N., and R. Atolls. Young women and men within the age range of 17 to 25 are eligible to apply, with the exception that 17-year-olds must turn 18 by 28th February 2024.

To ensure a diverse and inclusive participation, a total of 35 applicants will be selected to partake in this program. The selection process will prioritize individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm and a strong commitment to actively engage in the training. Furthermore, special attention will be given to facilitating equitable representation, including the inclusion of women and persons with disabilities.

The ‘Civic Education Training for Northern Atolls’ is an initiative led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) of the Maldives. Its primary objective is to improve the livability of the region, with a particular focus on Hulhumale. The program will explore five fundamental pillars: social inclusivity, economic and environmental sustainability, good governance, and innovation.
