The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has extended the deadline for registered applicants seeking to participate in the Maldives Expo 2026 in collaboration with island and city councils.

The extension applies only to individuals who submitted applications before the individual competitive category closed at the end of August. It does not reopen applications for new individual participants.

Under the revised participation rules, products submitted through councils must remain registered under the names of their creators. Eligible individuals may collaborate with a council and submit their products through the council, but the entries will continue to be formally attributed to the artisans who created them.

In previous editions, councils were permitted to submit products directly under their own names. The council category was initially removed from this year’s exhibition before being reinstated following requests from several councils.

BCC said the revised arrangement is intended to ensure that individual creators receive recognition for their work while allowing councils to support and represent artisans from their communities.

Applicants who have already registered as individuals and wish to participate with a council now have until Thursday to complete the process. Application forms can be submitted through expo.mv.

The exhibition will also recognise the highest-ranking island and city councils in the councils’ category.

Around 700 applications were submitted before registration for the individual competitive category closed at the end of August.
