Defence Ministry and NMDA Discuss Strengthening Disaster Management

The Ministry of Defence and National Service has held discussions with officials from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on strengthening disaster management efforts in the Maldives.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed, Minister of State for Defence and National Service Aishath Safoora, and NDMA Chief Executive Hisaan Hassan.
According to the ministry, the discussions focused on improving the country’s existing disaster management system and enhancing coordination between relevant institutions.
Hassan Rasheed was appointed Minister of Defence and National Service on 15 April. Since assuming office, he has been holding meetings with various organisations and embassy officials to discuss measures aimed at strengthening the country’s defence and national service sectors, as well as improving cooperation between the ministry and partner institutions.
