Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives Launches Girls to Code in Dhidhdhoo

Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives has commenced Girls to Code Dhidhdhoo, an exciting initiative aimed at empowering young girls from HA. Dhidhdhoo by teaching them essential coding skills using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 

The programme kicked off on 8 July 2024, and classes will continue until September 2024. Girls to Code is specifically designed for girls aged 10 to 13 years, with the goal of inspiring and empowering them to enter technology fields and addressing the gender gap in the industry.  Participants with no prior coding experience will gain hands-on practice, learn to code and create simple websites by the end of the programme.

“This programme is more than just learning to code; it’s about empowering you to create,  innovate, and learn crucial digital skills for the 21st century,” stated Mariyam Asna Saeed,  President of Women in Tech Maldives. 

Girls to Code is a series of programmes introduced by Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives with a regional focus across the Maldives. Girls to Code Dhidhdhoo is the fifth edition, following the success of Girls to Code Fuvahmulah, Thinadhoo, Kulhudhuffushi, and Laamu. 

This educational programme also advocates and raises awareness across regions, addressing the gender gap and providing young girls with the confidence, inspiration, and foundation to acquire essential 21st-century skills.
