During a press conference, EC President Fuad Thaufeeq stated that the re-registration procedure will commence on July 16 and conclude on August 5. Although re-registration will be open for a total of three weeks, the online option will only be available for a duration of two weeks, specifically from July 16 to 29.
It is important to note that individuals can still apply for re-registration using the traditional form method until August 5.
Thaufeeq further stated that individuals who participated in the previous local council elections in Male’, Hulhumale’, and Villimale’ will not be required to re-register in order to vote in the same locations during the upcoming presidential election. However, residents of Hulhumale’ and Villimale’ who wish to cast their votes in Male’ and vice versa will need to re-register.
The first round of the presidential election is scheduled to take place on September 9. If a second round of voting is deemed necessary, it will be held on September 30.
