ECM Schedules WDC Elections for Rakeedhoo and Raiymandhoo

The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has announced plans to hold Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections for Vaavu Atoll, Rakeedhoo, and Meemu Atoll, Raiymandhoo, on 20 June.
According to the commission, too few candidates applied for the available WDC positions during the nomination period for the April elections.
ECM said applications for the elections can be submitted online until 3:00 pm on May 18.
Applications will be accepted daily from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, except on Fridays, when submissions will be accepted from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
The positions to be filled in Rakeedhoo include the President of the WDC and one committee member. In Raiymandhoo, the available positions include the committee president and two committee member posts.
Voting for the 2026 WDC elections in Rakeedhoo and Raiymandhoo is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 20 June, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The commission said vote counting will begin 30 minutes after polls close, while official results are expected to be announced on Monday, 22 June.
