Education Ministry Launches Meetings to Address Vaping Among Students

The Ministry of Education has begun a series of meetings with senior officials and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) from various schools to discuss concerns regarding the rising trend of vaping among students and to enhance awareness of the issue.

The first meeting took place at the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on the evening of September 23, 2024, and was attended by senior officials from schools in the Male’ area, along with members of the PTA. Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu was also present.

During the session, participants focused on strategies for schools and parents to collaborate effectively in discouraging vaping among students. The Ministry of Education has announced that similar sessions will be conducted for all schools across the country as part of this initiative.

Experts contributing to the discussions included State Minister Dr. Ahmed Mohamed from the Education Ministry, the Secretary General of the School Safety and Health Division, and Dr. Mohamed Ali, a consultant in Internal Medicine.
