Egyptian Ambassador Concludes Tenure as Maldives Reaffirms Commitment to Bilateral Ties

The Maldives and Egypt have reaffirmed plans to expand bilateral cooperation as Egypt’s Non-Resident Ambassador Adel Ibrahim concludes his tenure.

Ambassador Ibrahim paid a farewell call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office on Thursday.

During the meeting, President Muizzu recognised the Ambassador’s contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries. He also expressed appreciation for Egypt’s longstanding assistance to the Maldives, including scholarships for Maldivian students and the service provided by Egyptian medical professionals in the country.

The President reiterated the Maldives’ commitment to maintaining close engagement with Egypt. Discussions identified culture, tourism, education, security and defence as areas where cooperation could be further developed.

Both sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and Egypt.
