Eight Expatriates Detained Following Hulhumale Raids

Maldives immigration has detained eight foreigners in a series of raids conducted in Hulhumale yesterday.
The immigration department said the raids took place in two accommodation blocks in Hulhumale and resulted in the arrest of eight expatriates who did not have valid visas.

Immigration said newly joined immigration officer trainees also took part in the raid.
The government has stepped up its efforts to crack down on undocumented migrant workers as part of ‘Operation Kurangi’ in recent weeks.
