Eight special flights have been arranged to repatriate passengers stranded in the Maldives following disruptions to international air travel caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The corporation said ensuring the safety of tourists and maintaining the stability of the Maldives’ tourism sector remain key priorities as authorities address the impact of widespread flight cancellations.

According to the corporation, eight repatriation flights have so far been arranged to return stranded passengers to their home countries. These include special flights to destinations such as Germany and France.

Maldives Airports Company Limited and the Tourism Ministry have also established a help desk at Velana International Airport to assist travellers affected by the disruptions.

Authorities are also continuing discussions with airlines to increase flight capacity and facilitate travel in the coming weeks.
