Electricity Extended to New Residential Areas Across Four Islands
Electricity services have been extended to newly populated areas in four islands as part of FENAKA’s efforts to provide essential utilities to residents in new settlement areas.
The utility provider has completed the work required to supply electricity to 80 households in the new area of L. Fonadhoo and 48 households in the newly populated area of Th. Buruni. The Fonadhoo works were completed by the end of June.
Network extension works have also been completed for 100 housing units in Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaranfaru and Thaa Thimarafushi over the past year. In Nolhivaranfaru, the project included laying 825 metres of low-voltage cable and installing 12 distribution boxes.
Meanwhile, substantial progress has been made on electricity infrastructure for newly populated areas in R. Maakurathu and R. Vaadhoo, with FENAKA working to complete the remaining works and establish permanent electricity services.
FENAKA said the project aims to ensure residents moving into newly populated areas can access essential services as quickly as possible.
