Executive Committee members of the Fertility Support Community (FSC) have resigned en masse, citing challenges over its future funding.

In a press statement issued yesterday, five executive directors and the vice president of the NGO formally announced their departure.

It was no longer realistic to “plan, execute and run on a larger scale without further funding”, the group said, noting that many of the executive members were full-time working mothers balancing voluntary commitments to the NGO.

Moreover, the statement referenced recent developments within the organisation that were perceived as conflicting with the ethical principles and standards upheld by the resigning members.

“Ultimately, our ethics and professional values are no longer in alignment with the current direction of FSC. We believe in fostering a supportive, respectful and professional environment, which is currently lacking,” it said.

The members who resigned yesterday include the NGO’s Vice President, Aishath Shaiba and executive directors – Aishath Mihna Nasih, Fathimath Rahusha, Hikmah Ahmed Nizar, Lubna Ali and Maryam Shifaza.

In their parting words, the departing members expressed optimism that the FSC would navigate the existing challenges with resilience and integrity, fostering a culture of solidarity and mutual respect.
