FENAKA to Dispatch Generator to Address Power Issues in Fuvahmulah

FENAKA Corporation Limited has announced plans to send a 1200kW generator to Fuvahmulah City in response to ongoing power supply challenges.
The initiative seeks to improve electricity provision and reduce frequent power outages in the city.

The corporation stated that the previous generator in Fuvahmulah had sustained damage, resulting in inefficiencies and interruptions in electricity delivery. Earlier in January, FENAKA committed to resolving the issue, initially deploying an 800kW generator under emergency procurement. Additionally, an 800kW generator, intended for a different island, was brought in but has yet to be installed.
However, FENAKA acknowledged that these measures were insufficient, particularly during months of increased electricity consumption driven by higher temperatures.
The corporation emphasised that more robust solutions are required to meet the growing demand. As part of these efforts, the 1200kW generator is expected to play a key role in stabilising electricity supply for the city.
