Feydhoo Council has revealed that over 40 homes in Addu City’s Feydhoo Island have reported damage following heavy rain.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) posted on social media that Feydhoo’s roads are now flooded due to the heavy rainfall. Responding to the situation, soldiers from Hithadhoo Fire Station and Southern Area Command are actively working on the island to drain the floods.
Faisal stated that the council, in coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), will initiate efforts to relocate residents from affected homes if necessary.
Prior to the onset of the heavy rain, the Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) had issued a yellow alert for Addu City and Fuvahmulah City from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am, warning of the impending adverse weather conditions.
In response to the alert, the Maldives Red Crescent has advised residents in these areas to exercise caution and remain vigilant.
