Fifth Maldives-EU Senior Officials Meeting to Take Place Today

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Fifth Maldives-European Union (EU) Senior Officials Meeting will be held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives.

The purpose of the meeting is to have open and constructive dialogue between the Maldives and EU, aiming to build upon existing bonds of friendship and collaboration.

This year’s meeting will focus on issues pertaining to enhanced collaboration on democratic reforms, green transition, climate change mitigation and adaptation, good governance, judiciary reforms and security, as well as examining the outcomes of existing initiatives to determine further cooperation. 

The Maldives delegation will be led by Foreign Secretary, Fathimath Inaya. The meeting will be attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President’s Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Attorney General’s Office, Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, National Counter Terrorism Center, MNDF Coast Guard Maldives Police Service and the National Reintegration Center. 

The delegation from the European Union will be led by Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the European External Action Service.
