Film Personalities Among Four Detained in Villimalé Anti-Drug Raid

Three individuals active in the local film industry are among four Maldivian men detained by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) today during an ongoing anti-narcotics operation in Villimalé.

Law enforcement officers are currently searching the suspects and related premises, according to police statements.

Authorities added that further details regarding seizures and formal arrests will be released as the operation progresses.

These operations follow major law enforcement milestones disclosed by Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, who revealed that authorities seized over 1.33 tonnes of illicit drugs valued at an estimated MVR 1.4 billion under the current administration. 

Police have conducted more than 500 targeted operations to disrupt drug networks while actively investigating 23 financial crime and money-laundering cases tied to narcotics trafficking.
