Fire Breaks Out at Feydhoo School Library, No Injuries Reported

A fire broke out at a school library in Feydhoo, Addu City, this morning, causing significant damage to books and property, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has confirmed.

The fire originated from an air-conditioning unit installed in the library. MNDF said it received reports of the incident at around 8:20am and immediately deployed firefighters to the scene. The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by 9:00am.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Photographs shared by MNDF show extensive damage to the library, with several books destroyed by fire. The bookshelves, door and air-conditioning unit also sustained heavy damage in the blaze.

The incident occurred after classes had already begun for the morning session. School authorities suspended lessons and evacuated students as a precaution when the fire broke out.
