Fire Destroys Apartment Room in Galolhu Ufuriyaage

A fire broke out in an apartment on the sixth floor of Galolhu Ufuriyaage, destroying one room, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has reported.

The incident occurred in Apartment B of the building, which is located opposite VB Mart and Ihusaan Store, at 11:30 am. MNDF firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze shortly after midnight.

While no physical injuries were reported, an elderly man was taken to hospital for treatment due to smoke inhalation.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) stated via a post on X that one resident of the apartment has been provided temporary shelter for one day, along with food assistance.
