Fishermen’s Award Applications Now Open

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has officially opened applications for the prestigious Fishermen’s Awards, marking a moment during the 43rd Fishermen’s Day celebrations.

The call for applications is extended to individuals actively engaged in the fisheries industry. The awards are categorically designed to recognise the most hardworking fishermen under the age of 35 and the most experienced fishermen aged 35 and above.

The deadline for submissions is set for 12:00 pm on November 30. The application form can be downloaded from the ministry’s official website, www.fishagri.gov.mv.

Applicants are required to submit their applications along with a copy of their ID card and any relevant certifications obtained in the educational or fisheries field. Captains of fishing vessels, whose main source of income is fishing, are encouraged to participate in the awards.

Notably, fishermen under the age of 35 are eligible for the Most Hardworking Young Fisherman Award, while those aged 35 and above can vie for the Most Experienced Fisherman Award.

Moreover, nominations for these distinguished awards can be submitted by individuals or from any other person, with the application form forwarded to the Ministry’s designated email address: fisheriesmanagement@fishagri.gov.mv.
