Five Arrested in Maamigili Counter-narcotics Operation

Five individuals were arrested in a counter-narcotics operation conducted in ADh. Maamigili on Monday, according to the Maldives Police Service.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Drug Enforcement Department, ADh. Atoll Police, and the Intelligence Directorate. All five suspects are residents of Maamigili.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohamed Shahudh, 27, from Roalhi; Ahmed Firushan, 28, from Village; Risvan Ibrahim, 30, from Reefside; Mohamed Mahmood, 34, from Kuwait; and Ali Shaneez, 39, from Everest.

During the operation, police searched seven properties linked to the suspects and recovered a total of 9.68 grams of drugs.

Following their arrest, the suspects were presented before court for remand hearings. Risvan Ibrahim and Mohamed Mahmood were remanded in police custody for 15 days, while the remaining three suspects were remanded for five days.

The case is currently under investigation by the Maamigili Police Station.
