Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has reiterated the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s commitment to addressing the needs of residents.

These affirmations were expressed during a campaign event. Former President Solih, addressing attendees, pledged the MDP’s dedication to safeguarding citizen rights while critiquing policies under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration.

Solih highlighted alleged halts to various initiatives and projects initiated by the previous government.

However, the current administration responded, revealing that projects initiated by the previous government ceased six months before the last presidential elections due to financial concerns. It was disclosed that these projects were assigned to companies with close ties to the election, lacking necessary financial backing, resulting in their suspension.

The government assured that funds have since been allocated to resume these projects. Muizzu stated that practical work on 527 projects is currently underway, with a total financial commitment of USD 584 million to projects initiated by the previous administration.

As the 20th parliamentary election approaches on April 21, MDP announced plans for senior officials to traverse various constituencies in pursuit of success in the upcoming polls.
