Former Special Parliament Member Mohamed Ramiz Passes Away at 74

Mohamed Ramiz, who served as a member of the Special Parliament formed to draft the Constitution, has passed away at the age of 74.

His funeral prayer will be held at the Islamic Centre after today’s Asr prayer.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu extended condolences to Ramiz’s family following his passing.

In a post shared on social media, the President conveyed condolences on the death of Gaafu Atoll, Lifadhoo, Mohamed Ramiz, noting his service as a member of both the People’s Majlis and the People’s Special Majlis, as well as his contributions to the tourism and trade sectors.

In addition to serving on the Special Majlis, Ramiz represented Gaafu Alif Atoll in the People’s Majlis for many years.

Ramiz was also active in politics and previously served as Vice President of the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), founded by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. However, he had stepped away from active political involvement in recent years.

He was also known within the tourism industry and was widely described as a kind-hearted individual who assisted those in need.
