The Family Protection Authority (FPA) launched its annual 16 Days of Activism campaign for 2023, demonstrating its commitment to preventing and eradicating violence against women. The campaign commenced with a targeted workshop on healthy relationships, specifically tailored for individuals aged 16 to 24.

Focusing on the formative period when attitudes and behaviors take shape, the workshop aimed to educate young people, providing a crucial opportunity to deter potential instances of gender-based violence.

The event featured a session on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), facilitated by Ms. Aminath Azlifa, with the support of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Maldives.

Acknowledging the importance of such initiatives, the Family Protection Authority expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts, emphasising the impact of the workshop in empowering young individuals. The goal was to equip them with knowledge and skills essential for cultivating respectful, inclusive, and violence-free relationships.

Highlighting the broader significance of educating teenagers on healthy relationships and legal awareness, the FPA emphasised the role of such initiatives in laying the groundwork for a societal shift towards non-violence. The ultimate aim is to contribute to the creation of a culture that fosters positive, respectful relationships, thereby ensuring enduring positive outcomes for future generations.
