Funeral to be Held in Hulhumalé for 9-Year-Old Following Fatal Road Crash

The funeral for the nine-year-old girl who met with a serious road accident in Hulhumalé Phase 2 on Saturday evening will take place at the local cemetery after Zuhr prayers today, following her death early this morning in the hospital.

She succumbed to her injuries in the intensive care unit at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) early this morning, where she had remained on a ventilator since the incident.

Medical personnel initially treated the girl at Hulhumalé Hospital immediately after the crash, but doctors later transferred her to IGMH in Malé to provide specialized care for severe injuries.

According to statement details released by the Maldives Police Service, the collision occurred near the Vinares 7 apartment complex. Officials report that two vehicles from the site have been towed to secure evidence for their ongoing investigation.

Police have not yet released additional details regarding the precise circumstances of the crash.

The funeral service is to be held at the Hulhumale Cemetery.
