Out of the 1,408 plots awarded in Hulhumale’ under the ‘Binveriya’ scheme, 761 remain to be handed over. The Housing Ministry stated that the handover process is contingent upon the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) completing site preparations and transferring the sites to the ministry.

The ministry is currently reviewing the land use plans for Giraavaru Falhu and Gulhifalhu, and is undertaking reclamation work to facilitate the handover of plots from these islands.

The delayed delivery of housing plots from the ‘Binveriya’ and Gedhoruveriya schemes, initiated by the previous administration, has led to ongoing protests in the capital.
