The app’s services will officially commence on 1 August 2024, when it becomes available for download on both the App Store and Google Play Store. The Ministry of Health highlighted that this application represents a significant advancement in blood donation and the strengthening of related services.

The app will facilitate the monitoring of blood availability and its management, ensuring healthcare facilities can maintain an optimum quality blood supply. Additionally, the app will securely deliver urgent requests to donors in emergency situations. When blood stocks fall to critical levels, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Services, will send alerts to all registered donors via the app.

HRDNC LLP, the developer of the app, stated that it was created in consultation with healthcare experts and is expected to be highly beneficial in maintaining an uninterrupted supply of blood throughout the country.

During the launch ceremony held by the Ministry of Health on Thursday, a plaque of appreciation was presented to several blood donors.

According to records, a total of 507 individuals voluntarily donated blood last year, while this year, voluntary blood donations currently stand at 247.
