Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs, revealed that the second batch of trainees is scheduled to return on May 17. He outlined plans to enrich their experience by arranging visits to historical sites and attractions in Mecca and Medina, alongside participating in training programmes.

Furthermore, Minister Saeed detailed the government’s intention to send imams and khateebs to several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia, for training throughout the year.

The National Project for Refreshing Imams and Khateebs aims to bolster the skills of permanent imams across 11 regions through additional training initiatives. Since its inception, the programme has successfully trained over 64 imams and khateebs from the islands within Gaafu Alif Atoll. The government has set an ambitious target of completing the training for all imams by the end of the year through this initiative.
