Health Ministry Opens Applications for Riveli Award 2026

The Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare has opened applications for the Riveli Award 2026, which recognises persons with disabilities and individuals and organisations working to support and empower them.
The ministry said the award is held under the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Provision of Financial Assistance Act (8/2010), as well as the government’s “Oagaatheri Mujthamau” policies aimed at creating economic and social opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The award seeks to empower persons with disabilities, recognise efforts to support their welfare, raise public awareness of their rights and increase their participation across different areas of society.
The Riveli Award will be presented in six categories:
- Persons with disabilities
- Persons with disabilities who bring pride and success to the Maldives
- Government and private entities providing education to persons and children with disabilities
- Non-governmental organisations providing services to persons with disabilities
- Professionals and individuals providing assistance to persons with disabilities
- Private companies and state-owned enterprises supporting the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities
The ministry said recognising achievements in the disability sector can help highlight the skills and capabilities of persons with disabilities, strengthen their confidence and reduce discrimination.
It also said recognition for those working in the sector could contribute to improved services and greater community participation in supporting persons with disabilities.
Application forms, category criteria and award guidelines are available from the ministry’s counter at the Umar Zahir Office Building, the ministry’s website and Family and Children Service Centres established across the atolls.
Completed applications and supporting documents can be submitted to the ministry counter or emailed to disability@health.gov.mv.
The deadline for applications is 1 PM on August 30, 2026.
