Health Ministry, UN ESCAP Launch Workshop on Social Protection Tool

The Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare, in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), has launched a technical workshop on the Social Protection to Leave No One Behind (SP2LNOB) application.
The four-day workshop, which began yesterday and will run until August 12, forms part of an ongoing project with UN ESCAP to provide technical assistance to officials working in the social sector on using the SP2LNOB application.

The workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of state institutions to use statistics and modern analytical tools to develop evidence-based policies and support the development of a stronger social protection system.
SP2LNOB is designed to help track progress in expanding social protection across areas including employment, healthcare, education and living standards, using indicators linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The workshop builds on discussions and work carried out in 2024 and 2025 to develop and utilise the tool.
Participants are receiving training on analysing policies using national-level data and identifying ways to expand support for vulnerable groups.
A total of 20 stakeholders are taking part, representing the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare, the National Social Protection Agency, Maldives Pension Administration Office, Maldives Bureau of Statistics and the National Planning Department.
